The high temperature in midsummer can always turn the world into purgatory in just few seconds. While walking in the shade, Kuroko is on his way not his own home but to some place he visits every other day. Some place where is unique, and is only opened for him alone; the expectation starts to expand while the sun is just about to fall. He jumps onto the stairs, rush to the third floor; then takes out the key and opens the door. Here is the “special place” where Kuroko always dreams for: a single apartment only has few furniture and one bedroom, but is lived by a single man who has been his hero for almost 5 years. Kuroko takes off his shoes and puts them into the shoe cabinet; and he walks through the hallway after he locks the front door. There is nothing but only silence in the living room. It seems like nobody is home at this moment but this illusion can never deceive Kuroko, not even once. He bends down and picks up the T-shirt near the tea table; then turns around and walks towards the bedroom.
“Aomine-san? Are you home?”
Kuroko yells, and knocks the door for 3 times. But there is still no response, makes Kuroko opens the door without any doubt. The truth is just as he expected: the master of the apartment is lying on his king-size bed, sleeping soundly like an exhausted “child” who has just come back from his cramming school. His back is facing to his Kuroko, and the whole room is filled with the noise of air-conditioner; other than that, nothings is different from what Kuroko remembers 5 years ago.
“…Aomine-san. Time to wake up. It’s almost 5 o’ clock.”
Kuroko comes to the bedside and sits on the bed. He gently pushes Aomine’s back; the man is barebacked, with only a blanket on his underbelly. His mouth is slightly opened, and his breath is quite heavy. The man does look really exhausted like he has not slept for whole week. Something bad must be happened, probably because of the team again. Kuroko talks to himself, and lightly lift the blanket. Aomine does not notice it is Kuroko who is moving his hands, arms and stuff around just like playing a doll. The man is still dreaming; but Kuroko has to wake him up because Aomine has to fulfill his promise.
“Aomine-san. WAKE UP. You promised me we could have dinner together TONIGHT. Do you still remember?”
“Oh come on…just shut the fuck up and get out of my room…!”
“………”
Suddenly, Kuroko pulls the whole blanket off from Aomine’s underbelly and throws it outside of the bedroom. Kuroko has never said he actually hates Aomine’s surliness because this is who he is; but Kuroko really wants him to learn how to control his temper, like a 35-year adult, not a teenager at Kuroko’s age.
“TIME TO WAKE UP, Aomine-san, and I am not begging you. It is a request.”
Kuroko says peacefully and he is really not feeling any anger because he is so used to this kind of situation. Aomine usually takes nap at two or three in the afternoon and once he falls into sleep, it is challenging for almost everyone in the world to wake him up. Kuroko is not the exception. Otherwise you will miss the dinner. Kuroko repeats, and the man starts to vacillate; he’s moving is not because he finally realize Kuroko is in his bedroom. It’s just because he start to shiver without the blanket, and slightly raise his head.
“What the heck is going…! Are you insane…what..?! Wait! Tetsu?! Why are you here…?!”
“Good ‘morning’, Sir. I hope you had a really nice dream this afternoon.”
“…..”
The man is just staring at Kuroko, with no words but confusion and surprise on his face. He looks like he wants to say something, but don’t know where to start; well…better than I expected…Finally he replies, tongue-tiedly, then continues.
“I thought you were Satsuki so…anyway, why are you here?”
“You don’t remember anything, do you?”
Aomine is not a considerate person, and Kuroko knows that. He never expects Aomine will change because he doesn’t need to do so, at least he doesn’t need to change himself for Kuroko. Even now Kuroko still can’t figure out what word he can use to identify their relationship: friends? Family without any blood relationship? Or an elder person who is just responsible for teaching Kuroko how to play basketball? Kuroko does respect Aomine from the deepest of his heart than anyone else in the world, but he is expecting more. I remember everything you told me, but you never did. After a few second of silence, Kuroko forces himself to smile and plan to leave the bedroom. No matter how many times Aomine shouts his name, he just doesn’t want turn back; if Aomine doesn’t want to learn how to control his temper, either does Kuroko, and this is how Kuroko think what fairness is.
“Hey…! Tetsu! Where are you going?!”
“Kitchen, Aomine-san. I am going to find something to eat, but not for you this time. I wish you could know how to cook for yourself. See you later.”
“Wait…What the heck is going on here…!?”
“……’bang’!”
